TOKYO — The mysterious-sounding Toyota Mark X, which was redesigned and rolled out by the Japanese automaker on Monday, will remain a mystery to U.S. buyers. Toyota's U.S. spokesman Curt McAllister confirmed for Inside Line that this is still a product for the Japanese market only.

Toyota says the redesign focused on "glam tech," which is supposed to give the rear-wheel-drive Mark X a blend of visual glamour and high-tech. Details include deep-set foglights and a sleek silhouette. The Mark X also gets a new 3.5-liter V6. It is available in three trim levels: standard, sports and premium. The monthly sales target for Japan is 3,000 units, Toyota said in a statement.

The Mark X starts at the equivalent of $26,196 in Japan.
